U Joint / Yoke question

Hi all,

I'm going to be putting an 8 3/4 in my Dart. The center chunk was out of a '67 Coronet, and it's going onto a Dart that had a 7 1/4 with a 273 and an auto trans. Anyone know which u joint will work for this set up? Obviously going to need to shorten the driveshaft as well, but curious if I can use the set up on the shaft now and make it work with the 8 3/4 from the Coronet. I assume the U joint for the 7 1/4 is much smaller than that used on an 8 3/4.

It's probably a 7260 series joint. Measure from snapring to snapring..2 1/8 is 7260 series 2 5/8 is 7290 series. Your chuck yoke could have either. If it's the big one you can get a conversion joint. Half 7260 half 7290. Common thing.
 
Ignore that the drive shaft is chrome...

Red is insulator
Blue is drive shaft
Green is rear yoke

This is the stock 7 1/4 - 904 drive shaft for some year darts.

8 3/4 uses a traditional drive shaft.

Sorry it took so long to respond. Been busy and just got the car on the lift to get proper pictures, but yes, that is what it looks like is on mine. Will I not be able to use this for the 8 3/4?

Will I not be able to use this for the 8 3/4?
The drive shaft for a 8 3/4 is shorter than the 7 1/4.

You might be able to remove enough from the front. I don't recall the amount.

But for the cost to shorten you could just about have a new drive shaft without the unknown of the the absorber.
