Ummm this can’t be good

So I picked up this old 331 Chrysler firepower aka baby hemi.

Started trying to get her on a stand to play with(btw, no off the shelf 1000 pound stands even the H stand seem to be able to handle her weight without tipping nose first, it’s just that long)

But this is what I found when I tried to take the flywheel and pressure plate off… ain’t never had an engine spin like that

Connecting rods aint connected. Pull a plug and look for pistones

I think you have "stuff" missing.

Seriously, though, I bet all you have inside is a free spinning crank. No pistones, no connecting rods, no timing chain.
At least it isn't locked up. PLEASE keep us advised of the teardown AND the rebuild. I have never seen the rebuild of an early Hemi. Is it different than the later ones?

No, it was bought as an unknown core for 150 bucks.
 
Well that was my first thought, but I have the entire rotating assembly. I’m thinking broken crank cause the dampener won’t budge
Could be. I have one that's not like "that".
 
My 241 is in the opposite shape. The crank doesn't turn from either end.
 
so what the flying bell kind of flywheel is this? It’s like it’s a two piece

That's the old "big bell" 331. It probably has the Fluid Drive convertor that the clutch is mounted to.
 
Yep. The Fluid Drive is an odd deal. It's a clutch mounted to the back of a torque convertor, basically. You are supposed to be able to come to a stop and pull away without clutching. Does it turn over at the front of crank?

Not by hand. I don’t have the right size socket to try yet. I gotta get that from Napa
 
That's an early (51-53) extended bellhousing block. They are tough to fit into things. Need lots of firewall room.
Well if this isn’t a total loss, the car will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen. And Built around the engine
