I just finished doing this to my car. Figured I'd see what you guys think and maybe pass along an idea for someone else. The floor is 1/2" MDF (medium density fiberboard) propped up on 1X2 subframe (to clear the spare), the walls are 3/8" hardboard held in place with velcro along the top edges. Stopped at an auto u upholstery shop here in town to get matching carpet. Walls are matched in vinyl from Joann Frabrics. Took about 12 hours for me start to finish and only $150.

Post photos when you can. I hope you don't get any leaks. Most hardboard will swell and decompose with water, and carpet will sure hold water. Not sure what the material is for the floor over the spare in later cars. My 85 Mercedes has a composite board, but I think it must be water resistant since real smooth and feels slippery.
 
My battery is trunk mounted, passenger rear.

I was kind of forced into this. When I got my car painted, my painter offered to rinoline the trunk which was fine with me since I use the car. As it ended up he didn't prep the trunk then sprayed it full of undercoating. I wasn't able to put anything in the trunk I cared about because the undercoating would transfer.
 
for the uprights around the trunk hinges I made cardboard templates. For the rest of it I measured and got it close. Once it was close I would mark where the contact points were and trimmed accordingly. I built the side panels first and then squared them off with the rear panels and hinge covers. The side panels actually extend past the hinge and rear panels.
 
It looks very nice. How much trunk did you lose on the sides. 2 inches? I wouldn't hesitate to put anything I own in that trunk. It seems that every time I wear a suit I get dust from on it just having it in the trunk in the bag.

On the sides I lost a variable amount because of the shape of the deck lid drip rail. At the rear it is almost dead on the center line of the outside tail light bulb. I can measure it for you if you'd like. On the pass side I've got a dodge truck overflow reservoir hidden(water/meth) for my turbos.

Did you guys that did your trunk drive you cars around before just upholstering the trunk?

Did you notice any interior noise difference?

I didnt do mine till after a year of owning the car, didnt make a big difference in sound but it makes a difference at shows.... meaning it looks nicer when the trunk is open.

In my opinion.
 
Those are sweet! Both of them.
Has anyone done anything to the trunk lid to help with noise?
I have carpeted my floor and wheel wells, I may try and do the sides tail panel after seeing these pics!

I run side dump pipes with glasspack mufflers, road noise is the least of my concerns.

That looks really good. What did you do to Account for the curve in the panel with your logo? That was how I originally wanted to do my but the curve at the base of the glass turned into a pain and I changed routes.

It is pretty much straight across, it may look like it is bent but it's not. it is just used to hide battery tools and cleaning products. I can take other pictures if you would like em. let me know ok.

That's very nice good way to hide stuff in the truck, battery, air compressor air tank
