The guy is being truthful in that a used frame is roughly 2 gees, frame can be changed in a day and a half with the right equipment and experience ( easily ) used bed assy might be another 1500 bucks, doubt differential has any issues nor springs but I would be looking at the trans pretty hard.OK, so essentially everything from the back end of the cab to the rear bumper needs to go. That might be less that $30K in parts ( maybe). How many here have a frame jig that they can use free of charge? I don't.
My opinion: That's a parts truck now, and a future rolling group of issues and problems for any back yard Billy who is going to repair that by hand.
There is a reason the insurance company is "totalling out the truck, and, I, personally, have no need to take on a project that will end up costing over $50K before it's done, and you simply end up with a 2 year old truck for the price on a brand new 2015 3500 Cummins dually.
