Has anyone had success using chrome tape on the curved portion of the console?
I'd rather not get it rechromed

Can use chrome paint won't be as shiny but it has some, use it in my turn signal housings or just primer and paint it aluminum.

Not exactly the same, but I used chrome vinyl wrap on my cluster, and it started to peel up within a couple months in the sun and warm temps.

My son’s console was pitted in the corners on the flats. To save money we sanded them down some and taped about a 3/8” wide band and painted it satin black. Think it looks really good especially with the new wood grain decal. Was a cheap way to spruce it up.

Nice work! Blends in nice with black console.
Sometimes we try to recreate the factory stuff with either so-so or costly results. While a different approach works/looks just as good. Yours is a great example!
