USPS delays

Our post office was out of money orders for over a month. We only have one full time postal worker as the town is population 600. I just don't think she wanted to deal with them anymore. Several town members filed complaints online and we finally got money orders again.
Not to get on women much but they are never held accountable. Especially in govt. meaning if they don't want to do it it doesn't get done. If you wonder why things dont seem , to work any more this is part of the answer not women in general. but just basic accountability.

Yea ,sometimes it's a **** show, but for 98% of the time they do a good job getting boxes move around the country.
Alot cheaper than talking it there yourself ! I can't figure out how I can send a box to Hawaii faster than in state.

They absolutely do. I feel more sorry for the carriers than anything. In the end it's really not their fault. They have ridiculous quotas and lots of pressure.

We get packages thrown in the ditch, mail in the wrong boxes, missing first class mail from almost two weeks in the past, no regular carrier, and on and on. I just complained to my Congressional Representative two days ago. They are looking into it. Most our problems don't stem from the national level, but our specific zip code branch. They NEVER answer the phone. You have to lodge a complaint at the USPS web site to get a call. Then, if you happen to miss the call, they will not answer the phone. When you do get them, they act like they don't believe what all is going on and give you a standard rehearsed response starting with "Informed delivery is no guarantee of when you get your mail". No ****, Sherlock. Where's the guarantee it's gonna at least be put in the right fuckin mailbox?
From my experience with the post office, it's a job that doesn't require the ability to read or do math

Last year the daughter sent us a Christmas card, it took 6 months. I think that people should be put on a pay for performance pay grade.

I was waiting on a part and talked to my local Postmaster whom said the conveyors can be very long and sometimes items get caught in a vicious circle. He emailed Facility back east and I received a couple of days later.

In a nutshell go to the source. I've got other stories where my local P.O. has given tremendous service.

Just got my Xmas cookies from my buddy in Honolulu 2 day service those cookie are alsome

I have been consistently receiving AliExpress orders from China in 6-7 days. Tracking shows that the packages are shipped from China on a direct flight to JFK with delivery by last mile delivery company SpeedX the next day to Maryland. Pretty amazing when domestic USPS ground service is 3-4 days.

I ordered a gift on Ebay Nov 4th seller shipped it out on Nov 5th Usps lost it and had 0 tracking updates from Nov 8th till this morning it provided a delivering today update. It just arrived today shipped from Alabama with the orig Nov 5th ship tag.

I sent a wiper switch to Canada it’s been over three months

Just going to point out that it's currently peak season for the USPS. Everyone and two of their brothers are shipping or having something shipped this time of year.

Also, money orders are the same as cash. You don't just decide not to sell them because it's a PIA. They're accountable. Honestly, they're not that tough to deal with. Easier than processing a certified letter. A clerk in a post office didn't delay them. That came from a lot higher above them. Of course, you only see the clerk, so it must their fault.

I would do that, but the problem here is, we don't have a regular carrier now. I'm not tipping for piss poor service from someone who doesn't even know the route.

We have a new mailman every other week, it gets old having to retrieve my mail down the road at the neighbors, we won't talk about packages.
They can't read or don't give a ****.
No wonder the USPS is about bankrupt, complete incompetence from the top down.

In '77 we had about 10 locals in the neighborhood of a Subdivision with a common but keyed box and delivery was never an issue.

That said, a different person delivering unsatisfactorily is a matter to take up with the Postmaster and complaints filed if appropriate in writing with a response requested from supervision.

It amazes me some folks ***** about USPS, UPS, FedEx etc. on a site dedicated to the enjoyment and furthering of knowledge for the cars we love.

If you knew this branch you would know for sure she just didn't reorder them when she ran out. She is the only one in the branch. And it's her responsibility as the postmaster of the branch to reorder them. In rural branches of this size there are no "clerks" just the postmaster. This happened prior to "peak" season. With all the people that work from home or have ebay stores postal money orders are essential to their business. Money orders are not the same as cash. You can't take one addressed to gunbunny to walmart and buy a case of beer. You can take any 50 dollar bill and buy one. She only became "accountable" when complaints were filed above her head. It may be different where you live.

I’m in Minnesota and I bought something on eBay from a guy in PA on Nov 30… it was shipped USPS, from PA it went to St. Paul MN, then Guam, then Hawaii, then back to Minneapolis MN…then finally to me after 2 weeks! When I opened the package last night there was only 1 item in there when I ordered 2…no wonder USPS is broke!

What do I know, I just worked for and retired from the USPS.

How much do you think mail carriers start out in pay now? $19 hr. It's a lot harder job than you think it is, and when you factor toxic management, and entitled assholes into the mix, it's not worth it.
But . . . it could be for some people. To me it takes a certain mindset and forward thinking towards life's goals.

I was fortunate to start at The County 2 months short of turning 19. I lasted 5 years 10 months and ran.

In hindsight if I wasn't so full of piss and vinegar I might have had a decent and tolerable life with the long range goals.

My last boss Art V. at The County was quite a character and a Triple Dipper. Retired Air Force after positioning missle silos, CalTrans highway work and lastly County Surveyor and was involved with several Apprenticeship Committees ( Sheet Metal, Electricians, Survey-Operating Engineers ) that I know of.

He was always happy, helpful and understanding. Busy yes, work hard yes, happy with wife at home ? Unknown.

Life is what you make of it right ?
