vac guage in dash

Anybody have any experience on the vac guage in the dash? I have my dash out and I am not sure if my guage works or not but I want to be sure before I reassemble. The hands move freely and it looks clean. I tried sucking (no comments please) as hard as I could on the hose but nothing? Anyway to test?

You could spend $20 or so and get hand operated vacuum pump like this...

...or you could just get a long piece of vacuum hose and hook it up to an engine that will run.

ok...i hooked it up to manifold vac today and nothing. where do I start troubleshooting this guage?

Just replace it. An autometer 2-5/8" guage wil fit right in the hole after you take out the lens.

Kinda hard to see but I have a fuel guage there.

aah but that vac guage is soooo cool! I love it. Even if it doesn't work.
