I am in the process of tearing down my 340 for a Cam and other parts change and I’m looking at the Power Brake Booster and it looks like I will not be able to get to the 3 valve springs closest to the firewall because the Booster is in the way!
Is there any way to remove the valve springs with it there or do I need to unbolt it?

Remove it. Way easier
Do I just unbolt the 4 bolts or is there something else I need to do? Can I leave the master cylinder attached to it and just move them over slightly, or do I need to attach a rope or wire to support it?
Sorry for all the questions, thanks

Getting the small rubber widget on the end of the master cylinder pushrod out has alway been a PITA for me. I assume you are using the bolt on spring compressor? If you can clamp a pair of needle nose vise grips on the tube where the handle goes, then put the handle on the vise grip it might clear.

Thanks I will try that.
I am also asking some of my friends if anyone has shaft mounted spring compressor, and if using a shaft mounted tool would that work without removing the booster.

The Brake Booster is easy to remove- just those 4 nuts, and you have to disconnect the brake lines. Very easy

You can make your own spring remover using a factory rocker. With an angle grinder & cut off wheel, grind out the pad section that contacts the valve tip. Spread the remaining 'arms' slightly so that you can access the keepers. Weld a piece of pipe or bar about 10" long onto the p'rod onto the top of the prod cup area. Mount to the shaft & pull on the bar to compress the spring.
Make sure the piston is at/near the top of the bore in case the valve drops slightly. Get a screwdriver with about a 4" shaft, bend the shaft slightly; put that in the spark plug hole, screwdriver tip touching the valve to hold it place. Lost count of how many springs I have removed using this method....

Harbor Freight has a small twist style compressor that will fit without remove the PB booster. It’s a PITA to do in the car but is possible to remove the valve lock.

Thanks for all the advice on removing the Booster if I need to. I already have the tool mentioned above and a friend is going to loan me a shaft mount tool and I will check to see if it works with the Booster without removing it.
