Rare is relative as to why. They were such a POS, it is rare to find one not recycled already!

I was too tall for such a car before I was old enough to drive, and have a hard time understanding how such small vehicles are permitted to be sold in the US, when they are too small for 15% of the population to drive safely. I call 'em kiddy-cars.
due to the very fact that my favorite US made cars were not available in the mideast as rentals..this was my car of choice when TDY, would specify 5 speed floor shift...fun to drive...and as to the comment on small...look around you at the things that allowed on the roads in the US today including the major interstates...SMART cars, plus a host of others...the very boxes used that a decent V8 engine is shipped to you within. IN retrospect the car pictured appears to have survived very well the wear and tear of time...while not for everyone...many PAKs grew up driving one of these as their first car....one has to remember the niche this car filled..not necessary like, but remember.

I remember going to Argentina a couple times in the eighties and nineties, and Ford had made a ga-jillion Falcons there based on the old '63 body, and they were sort of the standard car.
