I need a reminder as to where the VIN's are stamped in the body of my 74 dart sport.
I have to get a DMV inspection since I bought it out of state. That way I can help the inspector
in case he may not know.

you really think they'll check them? the only one I have ever had someone check is drivers side dash - right under the edge of the windshield gasket. I think there is one inside the trunk - and one on the bottom of a front frame rail.. it's been a LONG time since I have looked. The fender tag should reflect it and it should also be on the radiator support - again, I think.... oh - door decal - drivers side.
"Chrysler also took the trouble to stamp the last eight digits of the VIN on the engine and transmission."

Door sticker usually gets you through in most cases.

VIN locations on a Dart Sport should be on radiator support top edge, package tray between speaker hole and window channel. If it's a fold down rear seat, could be package tray or trunk lip.

North Carolina has gotten tougher on out of state classic cars coming in. They do not like non title state cars and title services titles.

Curiously, what states do and don't issue titles for antique vehicles? N.H. (where I live) doesn't on anything older than 25 years. The guy I bought my car from lived in Vermont, which didn't title antiques either.

Not familiar with a DMV inspection in North Carolina, but I've gone through a couple here in California and they absolutely check more than one location. I showed them the dash VIN, door sticker and fender tag on all of my cars that have been inspected, and on my '71 Satellite they actually asked to see a partial VIN stamp too because the fender tag is removable.

Yup, right on with the partial VIN locations. Engine and transmission too if they match, but they probably won't want to crawl under the car to see those.

Here in Idaho, the only thing they looked at is the visible VIN on the dash frame I would not "buy trouble". Just lead the guy by the hand, look through the Windshield, and say, "you want me to read it out?"

Dash tag, radiator support, package tray, fender tag, door sticker, and if you're lucky....motor and transmission. NCDMV Inspectors are usually pretty nice unless you try to pull something on them. They showed up at my house 2 years after I bought an out of state car to look at the VIN. He said it appeared to have been titled thru a title company prior to me getting it. I told him I had no clue (and really didn't) and we were good to go. He hung around and talked old cars a bit, and told me if I ever needed his help to come see him or give him a call. Now he's my go to guy if I think somethings fishy on a car! He helped me get a bonded title for a nice older Dodge motor home from Canada that had no title. Treat him/her right, and they will do the same for you. NC did pass a law a few years ago that says that if they don't get there in 30 days to do your VIN inspection, the DMV has to issue you a title so you can register the car. Good luck.

They looked at the door tag, windshield vin tag,and fender tag took 2 pics front and rear of car. They ran the vin thru databases to check to see if it was stolen and said i was good to go.Thanks again Neighbor.

My '72 Dart has a driver's door from a different car, so the door sticker obviously doesn't match. No fender tag. But the dash VIN, radiator support and trunk lip matched the title when I bought it (in MN).
I titled it in MO and the state police only looked at the dash VIN. No problem.
