Vin tag codes

The fender tag on my 72 Demon has codes V68 and V88 at the top.
I believe they are for the stripes. Don't know if they designate a color or stripe delete.
Any ideas out there?

V88 is stripe delete
V68 is longitudinal delete

Thanks a bunch. Was that common on Demon 340's?
I believe stripes were standard on the 340.
