I have a old MP electronic distributor with adjustable VAC advance. Would this be a better distributor to use VS a stock production electronic unit for a daily driver/cruiser vehicle ??
I thought that the MP electrnic kit distributor had a faster advance spring rate...but then I'm not sure of that.As I understand the original, non Mallory/Accel Mopar distributor they sold as a conversion kit to electronic ignition was just a stock distributor with adjustable vac advance. So really which ever one of the two you have that is less worn out and functional I would use. This is leaving out which ever either is set to for internal timing to set your total timing that would be best for your engine.
Whats the part number on the distributor?I thought that the MP electrnic kit distributor had a faster advance spring rate...but then I'm not sure of that.

I’ve had a half dozen of those and they work flawlessly. Spring setup I believe is different from stock. Nice find.Got it 3690430
thanks, plan to install it into a 1962 plymouth fury wagon, 318 poly.I’ve had a half dozen of those and they work flawlessly. Spring setup I believe is different from stock. Nice find.
How well does the 3690430 work on a basicaly stock small block, street driven cruiser ? I have around 17" VAC at idle , 3.23 gears, 727. Think it will work OK ?I’ve had a half dozen of those and they work flawlessly. Spring setup I believe is different from stock. Nice find.
