A good friend of mine and I got a ride in one of those groomers about 5 or 6 years ago. We were at a very little known small ski resort in eastern Oregon called Anthony Lakes. It has 10 electrical hookups for RVs that are free and it's only open Friday Saturday and Sunday during the winter for skiing and snowmobiling. or I should say that's when the lifts in the restaurant is open. It's right at the base of the skiing slopes. I had my old motorhome(1973 executive as if it came off the showroom floor with a 413 big block Mopar) my friend and I went up early in the week and plugged it in and had our snowmobiles. The only people there were the crew that maintains the area and after they made a big track for us around the lake they invited us to go for some night grooming for the cross-country skiers. That was a real fun few hours I've never been in anything like that and then going through the forest at night and plowing the snow and grooming the trails it was really cool..I especially like the 2 Tucker's holding the sign LOL!
I can only imagine that would be like getting a ride on the back of a dirt bike? You really need to ride one by yourself to get the full effect...Mexico, Maine? Are the residents called Mexicans? That's awesome.....got a ride down a slope on the back of a snowmobile. I sheered the screw on the toe piece of my ski binding so I could not ski on it and the runs were closing for the night.
Sounds like a lot of fun. I was back east several years ago visiting some folks. Found out a ski resort was testing out the lifts, so we got to go for a ride. Was fall, so we were able to get some pretty awesome shots of the fall colors. Was the only time I was ever on a ski lift.A good friend of mine and I got a ride in one of those groomers about 5 or 6 years ago. Track was actually ice. That had a gamblers race, one of the guys in the fast class was dialed in. In the 10 lap race I think he lapped everyone but the 2nd & 3rd place finishers. He looked like he couldhave taught some bike road racers a thing or 2 about hanging off...Speedway racing on snow Looks fun to me
Several of the sleds were not set up for the ice, they were berm shoting off the berm on the outside of the track. One of them obviously forgot to turn into the berm as the sled ended up outside the berm, the young lady racing it stood up, looking around trying to find it. May have the shots off of it.Reminds me of 3 wheelers of old on oval track. Right foot hooked on the seat, *** skippin' across the track, hand full of throttle and full lock to the right
Thanks, I tried. With a bit of editing I should be able to come up with some decent images.@inkjunkie Great photos

Once I got my gear set up it performed flawlessly in the cold. I have no idea how the settings on my camera body got so out of whack, I would have never set it up like it was. I was standing there, without my glasses on, trying to reconfigure the thing. One of these days I will remember to check everything when I first take it out of the bag..lol...
Things have not really hanged, other than what the image is captured on. remember, once you buy the memory card digital photography is free...so don't hesitate to take a lot of images. I have all of my camera bodies set to high speed continuous, which is 7/10/14 images per second. Don't want to miss anything.I just got a copy of "Digital SLR for Dummies". If the weather was better, I would head for my reading chair on the porch with another tall latte in hand and get started on it. I knew my way around my Minolta SLR pretty well, but it's been a long long time.
Thanks, will look into this. When we lived in AZ I rode my bike year round. Wore my summer gloves even when the night time temps were in the high 30's, I wore a pair of those cheap HF latex gloves under my summer gloves, was surprised how much it helped. My gloves will have a much more fair test this weekend as Spokane County Raceway will be holding another Winter Rally, this time with some snow. That looks like fun, IJ. That amount of wind makes it miserable. Get some silk glove liners... you'd be happy with how much they keep your hands warmer.
As for the Tuckers...... IIRC Tucker used Mopar 225's, 318's and 360's back in the 60's-80' to power them. Some Thiokol's used Ford inline 6's.
DO IT!okay this is almost too much I think I'm going to definitely get my sled deck back of the truck in the next couple of days and be up at Mount Hood by the end of the week!
