I had a vinyl top installed a couple of years ago and now it has developed a few air bubbles. def air not rust. Can I take a heat gun to it? Any suggestions on this problem?

I personally would pull it up to where the air bubbles are and re glue it down. 3M spray about $18 a can - a whole top takes 2 cans. Spray glue on the top and on the roof and allow it to get tacky then lay vinyl back over it. If careful you should be able to lift it up and re install it.

Another option, although not the best, would be too possibly put a small pin hole where the bubble is and add glue.

Using a heat gun will not help where the glue is not holding.

It matters because the top should not be lifting and the installer should be the one fixing it.

You have 40 year old tops out there that are rotted but still stuck to the roof.

3M Stuff works good, but I do prefer this as it seems to tack up better, they will both work.

Remember that these are "contact" adhesives, you should spray them on both the top and the roof panel, let them tack up a bit, then install. If you paid the guy to put the top on, I would suggest you take it back to him and have him fix the issue or take it to someone who is a professional in this field.
