The car is a 1970 Dodge Dart. This is NOT about the readily available trim clips that bolt on at the bottom of the back window!!! On my C pillar the trim is secured by odd screws that the trim clips directly over the head.

Below are some pics of the old rusted screws that came out. Again, there is no molding clip attached to these screws, the vinyl top trim just clips right over the head of the screw. Anybody who knows where to find/look for these, I would appreciate you responding on the thread. I've been looking for months! If anybody even knew what the name for a screw head like this would be, that would help. The head is exactly 5/16 of an inch wide at the widest part.

Thanks for any help!!!!

I found similar ones on eBay but threads did not continue up to the head. I also need them for a Barracuda. Mine had a little plastic spacer/washer. Let us know what you find.

I had luck calling Restoration Specialties about some clips that were not in their catalog, they had the exact correct clip.

you need to call these places and not rely solely on website catalogs.

That's them!!! and yes about half the ones I removed had thin clear plastic washers on them, which promptly fell apart. I think they keep the trim itself from damaging paint/vinyl when installed.

Sorry, I missed the ‘not’ in my statement. I’ll keep looking, too, and will let you know.

Can you give me a link to the ones that you found? I have a friend who is a machinist and we can see if we can set something up to thread it all the way up. If it works I'll let you know and make a bunch.

This a screenshot of what the seller dith612 has on eBay. You can see the threads stop. Someone else on here found these in another thread. No mention of head size but looks the part.

These are designed to hold a clip and not the trim directly, if you look at the original posters screws they have a chamfered head and are a different diameter. I tried these and they do not work.

So, you were the one who found these. Yes I see the chamfered head on our used screws. We will keep looking.

I sent the original post, and these don't work (I think they are a work around on a car that has little posts with heads if you lose a post, you can use these to hold the clip that originally went on the post). The heads are WAY too small

I sent an e-mail to Tom Race at RT Specialties to see if he has a source or could locate one.

I sent him an e mail 6 months or more ago about trim clips for Duster full vinyl top trim. I'm sure he will get back to me any day now! LOL

Restoration Specialties got back to me in a couple days on some other clips I was looking for.

Hello I’m looking for the same type of screws 3 on Each side I Only have one do you found some for your past project or what do you use instead .
Thanks you

I ended up using the same clips that are used on the rest of the vinyl top trim. They work fine but are a pain to install (getting the nut on the back). I think Chrysler used those odd screws because it would be too expensive to have a factory line worker crawl into the trunk and snake their arm up above the wheel well to do this, but for us it's all in a day's work!
