Hey guys.... when I put my voltmeter on the battery I get 12.45 volts and then I crank my car up and in idle the voltage is all over the place very quickly 14 7.50 13 5 12 is my regulator bad? Napa alternator Napa electronic regulator grey box thanks jr

It might be your meter, picking up EMI from plug wires, or battery low. If your lights are not flickering, it is the meter. I had an old cheap one that would go crazy on a running car, if the meter battery was low.

Electronic voltage regulator must be chassis grounded before harness connected and power supplied. This is why they don't like to give refund/exchange on returns. The unit is easily killed at install. My volt gauge went from normal one day to twicking like crazy the next. Regulator was the fault.
