way to buff out barracuda trunk plate?

i dunno what it's called right off hand but the back plate on my trunk lid that says barracuda is as dull as a kids eyes in math class, i'd like to buff it out but i dunno what it's made of any suggerstions?

I don't believe it should have a shine. The large center area would be a satin silver.

Get a can of Krylon #1403 Dull Aluminum spray paint (The match will me more than close enough to the factory look for any street car).

Tape off the chrome edges.

Actually, the 1969 Barracuda has a textured silver finish. You can get spray cans of this paint from Eastwood. Although the texture may not be 100% perfect, it will look more accurate. The 68 barracuda silver they use on the tail trim is not textured.

As for the areas that are not painted, they are anodized thus not able to be "buffed" like bare metal can be. The cloudiness comes from the age. There are those out there that can restore that trunk trim, but the pricing is outragous.
