I purchased this Dakota bracket truck. I bought it as a roller. The owner said that it weighs 2450 without driver. It had a BBM and had a Indy cast-iron block, Indy two four intake, Indy aluminum heads and a PG trans. I'm going to use a SBM R3 block aluminum heads, single 4 intake and a TF904 trans. Do you think it'll be lighter with my engine and transmission?

Yes. Probably 75-100 pounds.
100 lbs would be AWESOME! That would mean if we can make 750 hp with the W5 it should run about 5.59 with me driving and about 5.51 with my son. That way we can run some 5.50 index. I'd always heard that the BBM indy blocks were way heavier than the stock blocks.

Indy makes aluminum blocks too. If that were the case, the truck could be heavier as the R3’s weigh lots more than a 340 block.
But if the BBM was iron, yes, probably 75-100 pounds lighter.
If that W5 puts down a true 750, that will be the stroutest W5 I have seen. That would put your current car around those numbers.
The one I had ultimately went 140@3220
X block, gas, no pump.

Well time will tell. I hope to have an accurate weight and time slip by April.

Nice truck, regardless it should be lighter than a typical bracket car! Until you get it on the scales to know if he was accurate and comparatively what you have, you just have a ballpark...it just kinda is what it is.
