Weird Engine In A-Body

-
Saw a 69 dart with a 454 in it at the local drag strip. when me and the guys dressed in mopar flare walked up the owner wouldnt even look us in the eye. we walked away shaking our heads.

My grandfathers 49 chevy stepside is converted over to a FWD 305 on an oldsmobile chasis

Not an a-body but cool none the less. I am currently installed an aluminum hood, dash and console it it to help shed some weight.

Here it is with the blower and injector on alcohol

Here it is with dual carbs on the blower on racing fuel.

yeah...but no matter how fast it is..............in the end it's still a Fiero..

The only really weird one I ever came across was in a junk yard. It was a 70 Duster with a Chevy straight six engine and 3speed manual trans.

Made me look twice for sure !

Perkins diesel in a Canadian-built right-hand-drive '61 Valiant (with '60 grill and hood release):

A 2.0L Perkins diesel was available as basic equipment in the Barreiros-built Dodge Darts of Spain from '65 to '69 or so; talk about zero to some approximation of speed in an hour and a half!

I want one!

Knew a guy once who had a ford pinto motor in a 60-61 plymouth valiant...thought that was kinda weird

any chance a cummins will fit in an A body ?????

If your talking a 5.9 Cummins it's way too long. I just helped a buddy put one in a 90 Ram 1/2 ton and it's a tight fit in it. I'm not positive but Cummins might have made a 4 cyl. version. If so that might fit.

Not gonna lie... I've thought of putting an 80's BMW 3.5L "slanted" 6 from a 83-88 535i in my A body. Same legendary reliability but with fuel injection and a 5-speed mated to it, ~200HP/200 ft lbs and 25 MPG in a boxy car of similar weight to an A body. It even slants the same direction and the exhaust is on the passenger side so clearance issues with steering and trans linkage would be non-existant.

They are damn near plug and play, too. I've done swaps with them before (into other BMW's) and it was really easy.

But I'd still rather do a Mopar turbo 4 banger. I'm not a purist but I can't bring myself to cross-swap anything.

(now watch in 6 months when I find a $400 BMW....)

I Found A 340/727 In A 1967 Firebird Complete With Mopar Headers, only One Pipe On The Header Was Changed To Fit Firebird. Car Had Hawaian
Plates On It.turned Out To Be A Good Running Drivetrain For Only $300.00. Thats Been 20 Years Ago. Like To Find Another One For That Price

I'm pretty sure I saw something like this at M.I.R. one time. It ran pretty good.
I actually found a pic of it, heard it had a 340 in it.
