1972 Ford Bronco. Already named it " Ugly Betty" and its not even at home yet. She is UGLY as cuss on a stick.
But... a very solid rig. Has a 302 / 3speed combo. Has big bearing 9" rear end and the coveted dana 44 front end. Also has about 14 coats of paint and primer. Needs some metal work on the back and some overall good elbow grease. Got it for a song just due to its looks. Not sure what I will do with it yet. One of those things I couldnt pass on.

pictures of UGLY BETTY will soon appear. BEWARE !

A 572 Hemi would be good.

≤ looks around the forum I am on≥

I actually like the broncos, especially the first gens. I know you said pictures to come but gotta say it...

This thread is worthless without pictures!

:)

I LOVE those things!! Small, simple and all metal! I would consider owning one for sure.....

No shame in Ugly Betty! I had a neighbor that had one of those in his garage for years, wish I could have gotten it after he passed away.

EDIT: It's kinda funny you mention this. I was just looking at a CL ad for a 72 in Carbondale, CO, just like the one you bought. What are the odds? Even funnier if that's the one you bought. If so, its not a bad looking rig.

I like the original broncos, but not the small bronco 2s.

Same goes for the trailblazers.

The early Bronco's were just mentioned this week in the Hagerty newsletter as 1 of 5 "sleeper" vehicles with rising value.........They've got quite the following here in AZ. Great 4 X 4's :thumblef:

"Ford Bronco: The humble 1966-77 Ford Bronco was a product of the same team that brought us the classic 1964½ Mustang. Unlike the Mustang, which sat on Ford Falcon underpinnings, the first Bronco was a totally unique platform. The size and shape were just right, and collectors have latched onto them in droves. Totally stock, unrusted Broncos without cut fenders and flares are rare; it takes around $30,000 to get a nice one."

1966 - 1976 the only years Broncos were worth having, and they are awesome. I used to have a '71; would catch air coming out of the bowl at sand lake. Incredible, bulletproof, capable, nimble, go anywhere utility vehicle. Wish I still had mine. Jealous...

Well the Bronco has been sitting on the trailer while waiting for room at the shop. Finally unloaded it last night. Amazing thing... fresh battery and pumped the pedal twice. Fired right up. The little 302 is tight and runs real smooth. Matter of fact ya can hardly hear the thing run even though it has new exhaust with cheap glass packs on it. Guess I am just used to my Duster ringin' my ear drums.
We have been collecting and gathering parts and peices to get the Bronco in nice driveable condition. We are getting rid of the 3 on the tree transmission installing a 4 speed with new clutch tonight .. I think. We also have lined up all the peices to do the front brake drum to disc conversion. Then to make life easier when steering were adding in a nice power steering set up. Hopefully all that will be done in around a month or less.... we'll see. Rounded up a nice reconditioned top for it as the one that is on it is... well... lots of work. Looking for a used set of 33 x 12.5 x 15 tires to run on it in the mean time. Body is reallly straight.... I mean... straight. Except where someone butchered the rear fenders. Which... is no prob since were putting bushwackers on it and that will all be cut out. Simple. Pictures will start popping on here... going to go take some of ol Ugly B. tonight. Will also post some progress pics if anyone is interested.

Ford are ok in my book as long as its not a blazer im good! LETS SEE PICS

...and very thirsty!

Yep, those tings are FUN.

More meat than a jeep, but still easy to manuever.

Weak point is rear wheel wells, but the aftermarket has a cure for that.

One of the few quarters I'd ever consider cutting up.

Havent been in too big of a hurry, but we finally have all the parts stacked up and we started working on Ugly Betty. First things first... remove the horrible job of rear quarter fender work someone did.... easily fixed... cut out all the mess and install fender flares... virtually removed all the mess. We have just a little... and I mean little metal work to do and the body will be good to go. They are only on temporarily but we wanted to get the metal work done... 33" tires are waiting too....

Nice to see a o.g. one again. Even living near the Pismo dunes,I see one local one around town. Expensive, on the left coast.
