Were manual disc's available?

4" sbp manual disc's

What exactly are you talking about?

Some 1973 and newer vehicles that had disc brakes were available either with a manual master cylinder or with a brake booster.

I guess he wants to know if that was the case in 1972 and older vehicles because he'd like to set it up without a power/vacuum booster.

Ahhh...SBP, small bolt pattern, 4". Now I'm up to speed.

Absolutely. I`ve owned several SBP Kelsey Hayes disc brake cars without power assistance. My 68 Barracuda is outfitted like that.

Excellant ! So can someone explain the setup. Do I need to do anything with the reservoir? Thanks for all the info. Any pics ?

I upgraded from drum to KH disc, the donor car all my parts came from had the booster, but I left it out when I installed them.

I have no problems stopping the car with out the added booster.

In 1970 the Plymouth Duster 340 was equipped with manual disc brakes as standard equipment. The base price of the 1970 340 Duster= > MSRP $2,547

In 1971, Plymouth made disc brakes a factory option on the Duster 340.

Yes. In 65 & 66 they were run by a single chamber master cylinder. From 67 and on, they used the dual chamber master cylinder. The 75 Valiant that donated its brakes to the Demon did not have power brakes (nor does the Demon).

do they use there own spindles? or? I have a 68 barracuda with 10" drums I want to run disc but keep the small pattern any chance they use the same? what else would I need besides the correct master cyl?

KH discs used their own spindles since the calipers bolted to the spindle instead of a bracket. You will need the disc spindles and lower ball joints since they were different too. A '74 Charger manual disc brake master cylinder gives you a really good pedal with very little effort required. A body masters feel like you are standing on a rock.

When ordering my car the original owner did not order power front disks but the car showed up with the booster. They didn't charge him for it though..... build date is 6-72..... Dave

so next question are the early disc brake spindles and upper control arm, say 67 the same as the later a bodies 70's and later cause I was thinking of trying to find those in the wrecking yard and buying the small bolt pattern original disk. also what about the big disc brake I think cordoba? I will go with that master thanks for the advice

so I got a kelsey hayes sbp disc setup complete with wheels rotors calipers and proportioning valve, all for 100 bucks so now all I need is a 74 charger master. with this set up I don't need the upper control arm is this correct? I can post pics if necessary

Dang I didnt know about that set up ... do you know where i can get a setup for around that price id be interested. I have a 76 plymouth scamp and it has 4 wheel manual drum brakes.
