What amp. rating to get for alternator?

Hello, I have a '70 Dart, 225 6, with A/C, what amp rating should my alternator be?

I have no idea what I currently have on.

I was thinking of getting this one:

i forget what the standard amps are for the stock system but i do know that if you step up to a larger output alternator you need to beef up your wiring or you run the risk of a fire.

WHATEVER you get, even a "stocker," PLEASE read this article about the problems of the bulkhead connector and ammeter circuit in these cars

The bulkhead connector never was really adequate for anything over about 40A and not long ago we had a discussion about police/ taxi/ fleet vehicles, which had the bulkhead connector bypassed, evidently by the dealers

Why do you want to upgrade the alternator? Need brighter lights? A more powerfull alt isnt the way to go. Halogens connected to relay's for that..

You also have to consider whether or not you NEED more amperage. If you are running all stock equipment you're probably good with what you have. If you're running high amperage lights and a big 'ole boom box and more you'll have to add up the total current draw and figure for a worst case (everything on at once and continuous).
