I'm trying to put back together a "complete" 340 I purchased (oil pan to air filter). I found 4 bolts (left side of foto) the same diameter/thread as the head/main cap bolts but: a) they are a different length @ about 2 3/4"; b) the bolt heads are smooth with no markings; c) I don't seem to be missing any bolts. They were in the box with my head bolts (I already have 20 head bolts--see the 3 different lengths on the right side of the foto). So where did these come from? Thank you.

Head bolts... But only 2 are shouldered from what I can see. The far left and far right ones.

The head bolts are all pictured on the right side of the foto and come in the three sizes as shown. The bolts in question are the four bolts on the left in the foto and are NOT head bolts (that is why the question is being asked). I will repeat myself: "They have NO markings on the head and they are obviously a different length than any head bolt or any main cap bolt".

Crusty extras from another engine. They all look pretty crusty. Buy some ARP's and disregard the mystery.

Nobody said they are factory bolts.
Do they havea recessed dish in center of the bolthead?
Anyway.... The only bolts that large on a mopar engine are headbolts. Just extras I woud agree...

Those really look like the short SBC head bolts, except the shoulder is missing.

Unrated bolts that large, oye! Maybe they held engine stand arms to the plate, when they removed the engine from the stand they unbolted the arms from the stand and
ended up accidently tossing them in with the engine hardware? They are not even all identical bolts so.......................

Rear main bolts from my 340. Over 2" of shoulder and overall length of 3 1/2"

Sorry man, YR beat you by 14 minutes, but because you took the time to post the pic, I'm awarding you double nothing plus 10 for a really great photo. Your total is thus 10

I have a new box of ARP bolts ready to go. When these mystery four bolts did not match up to anything I could find, I thought I would throw the question out there. If someday I figure them out, I will post the answer here. But don't anyone hold their breath.

LOL, I'm betting on the engine stand bolts, but I won't be holding My breath!
