I need to run an oil line into my car from the engine to the AM guage. I have the std brass fittings that came with a plastic line kit. Can I still use these fittings with a braided line kit or do I need to get different fittings?

Keep the fittings and use them on a copper line. Braided lines don't use the compression ferrels

You'll need AN adapters, one for the block and one for the back of the gauge. Most likely the block is 1/8 pipe so the adapter will be a male 1/8" npt to whatever size male AN line. I don't know what gauge you're running but it's probably 1/8" also, the fitting will depend if you need a male or female adapter on the pipe end.

Copper line work hardens with vibration and is known to crack...

I use the plastic tubing and keep a spare in the glove box JIC....

Braided lines may work well, but I've never worked with them and can't tell you how to set them up....

Yes on the copper line work hardening.... to help relieve that if you use copper, then put at least 1 loop of copper line between the engine and the body to absorb the movement without severely working the line.

With a braided line, you might want to 'crack' the fitting at the gauge a tiny, tiny bit and bleed a braided line to get the trapped air out and make the OP gauge more responsive; its ID is considerably large than a plastic or copper line, and will trap a lot more air and may make it slow at start-up. But don't make a mess!

I have a plastic line and figured out where my oil leak was coming from....yep the plastic line. I just used it for breaking in my engine and figured it was be easier to watch under the hood than in the car. I have a copper line kit but someone mentioned using the braided line kit. I need to figure out how much I need if I go that route.

don`t think plastic line is nhra legal either. but, if your like me , the nhra didn`t help pay for my car or any parts. LOL

I've used copper many times and never had any issues, I use them on tractors too lots more vibration than a car. My dart has gauges mounted on the cowl and has a braided ss line (came with the gauge) and a piece of brake line contoured to fit the firewall where it comes out from the rear of the hood. If I were going to make up a new line using an I'd use Earls Pro Lite hose.

Had the same copper lines on OP and fuel pressure gauge for many years and many motors. never an issue

The one and only time I had a plastic line leak was because it got against something hot.

I have a slight oil leak dropping onto the PS header and having trouble locating it. I installed an oil filter relocator. I need to get it up in the air to figure that 1 out.
