What center link is this from?

Hoping someone can identify this center link. It is different than what's currently on my 68 Barracuda. In the process of factory disk brake upgrade. Wanted to know if it was useful. Part number is 3402797. Thanks

It looks like a 73 to 76 center link. Won’t be compatible with your steering setup on your 68 unless you swap all steering components from the 73+.

Is that swap necessary if adopting 73+ factory disc brakes?
 
Due to fact swapping to 73+ factory disc then why not steering assembly as well since I need new steering and idler arms. Is one better than the other?
 
“Better” is kind of a strong word, the ‘73-76 center link changes the direction of the taper on the pitman and idler arms and the inner tie rod ends, that can improve the clearance to some headers.

What steering box do you have? Power? manual? If it’s power do you know the sector size?

Prior to ‘73 thr power and manual steering boxes both used the small sector size. 73+ power steering boxes had a larger sector, manual stayed the same. So, if you have a small sector power steering box and you want to use the ‘73+ center link you need to use a ‘73+ manual pitman arm.

Either way the center link, pitman and idler have to be from the same year range
 
Most headers will have a better clearance with the 73 style. My 2 inch race headers the pitman arm hit the side of the one tube with the early style. Also the nut and threads face down away from the header on the 73 -76 style. I switched to a 73 style and it fit much better with headers

If your changing these parts anyhow I would go 73 up so all your front suspension components are for the same year excluding Strut bars and sway bar. JMO
 
Want to thank everyone for the detailed explanation. Was possibly opting for the bearing style idler arm which I have only found so far as a 73+ replacement.
