Finally found some time to dust off my 95 VFR 750 (V-4...hoofah what an engine!!) and head out on a 120+ mile ride today on some backroads in the lower upstate of South Carolina. Hit some desolate sweeper type roads, some hidden gems through the isolated Sumter National Forest. What a nice escape from the current situation we’re dealing with. Went to pickup some vittles but struck out as it was closed today, went down by the river but forgot my pole, stopped at the plantation but it too was closed, then just said “fowk it”!! and headed down to the Fowken Farm Very therapeutic and glad I have a motorcycle and can still “assume the position”......And what did you go today (any day)???:)

just got back from a walk in the park, smoked my pipe afterward
heading out to the garage now to tinker, gonna get my old finishing sander going if possible but you > me
I'm bikeless now and always had at least one since my teens. Sold my 84 Honda XL600 a couple years ago, had it 30 years...told my wife I would be buried with it lol

In reality, I went to work for 8 1/2 hours. If I could have had my choice it would have been a nice long drive through some forested mountain areas, with no other vehicles on a nice winding road, would have been far more relaxing and enjoyable.:icon_fU:

I miss having a bike, sold my Goldwing about 14 years ago.

Worked and finished up a few things on my Pontoon getting ready to give it a test run tomorrow (weather pending.) Hoping the 90hp will get me to 30mph and if it doesn't the motor sitting on a Pallet in the shop will lol....

Fixed the SC400 no window roll up issue. Motor just freewheeling in the door. Broken/slipped regulator cable I say...I was wrong! Motor was fine...regulator cable was fine...worm drive coupler was bad! What is a worm drive coupler....?

So this rubber donut couples the white worm gear to the square cable drive. It fits between 2 metal drive plates and is bonded to these plates make one unit. Don't know why the have this rubber in there (maybe to isolate the motor vibrations from the regulator?) But it degraded, separated and allowed the gear to not drive the square that slides into the cable spool. Epoxy to the rescue! Found the mating position. Slathered some epoxy on both sides and claimed it down. Used some 8mm nuts to fill in the side that was completely gone. Put back together, voila! Greased all gears and tracks while I was in there. MUCH easier that the stupid Caravan sliding door!

Did yard work for 3.5 hours this morning. Cut, trimmed and blew. Now we'll hanging out enjoying the fruits of my labor. By the way, wife and I did all the landscaping (except for the evergreens). We graded, laid the sod, built the rock beds, planted the plants, etc. I even did a dry creek bed to keep the rain water from getting close to the house, just have to extend it to fence now.

Love the yard, and the pool is ok too!

Love the yard, and the pool is ok too!

Thanks, I feel the same way. We put in the pool since we are raising our grandson and have 4 rescue dogs and we never go on trips anymore.

I've never really been a yard guy, but this has been fun. We started last fall having 14 trees taken down. Then after the pool was in and waiting for concrete, it pushed into winter and we had dirt until spring. Then we got busy with lots of backbreaking work!! Especially the prep and laying sod. The wife picked out all the plants. She did a bunch of butterfly bushes and amazingly...butterflies flock to them!!

I've been getting into doing quickie restorations on old Schwinn bikes, specifically the Speedsters with the 3-speed rear hubs. I can pick up clean examples for around $100 - $150. Rust remover, rubbing compound and wax, and clean/grease all the bearings and it looks amazing in about a month. . A cheap and satisfying alternative hobby.

loaded the TT BBC for my boat on the polygraph machine for an early morning tuning session.

Find something in your budget?

not really! While we made out well on ours, homes are twice as expensive in our new area. We are waiting on closing for our equity anyway but also hoping the market softens as summer slips away and Powell tightens the screws at the FED.

That stinks, I had my first house I bought, I paid 135k in 2016 sold it for 190k with bad septic and no upgrades in 2019. Then upon closing I started building a brand new 5 bed 3 bath home with only 1 house within a mile of me and on that I closed at 255k. it appraised in 2022 for 459k with my newly added on 30x40 pole shed. Insane

Well, let's see. .....

Got up at 2:45am
In the shower at 3:15am
On the road to work at 3:45am
Got to work at 4:35am
Worked all day (CNC Machine shop supervisor)
Left work at 3:30pm
Got home at 5:00pm

Same EXACT thing for 38 years.....

Oh, and paid an ***-ton of taxes.

Looking to do much the same, sell, take the equity and buy something else for cash. Realtors are a pain in the *** right now, at least around here.
