Well it doesn't officially start till Monday since I have Fridays off anyway

But I'm packed up and getting ready to finish loading the car and head out for vacation

It starts in the morning at 8am at the Indiana state fair grounds and last till Sunday the 18th late in the day.

Now what kind of vacation do you take at the fair grounds? No it isn't a fair, it is the best Car Show to come to Indiana, the Mecum Auction. This will be the 6th year I have worked the auction. Looks like I will be one of the coordinators for the Wednesday cars. So tomorrow as they are getting checked in we will be parking and lining them up so on Wedensday we can get them to the red carpet in a orderly fashion.

If any of the FABO members are coming then try and make it out to the Wedensday cars

And if Tony is still in the hospital he will only be a few miles away so you might be able to stop in and cheer up our buddy

So it is off to vacation. People at work think I'm nuts to take a week vacation only to go work somewhere else. I'll put in 110-120 hours this week but it is like a family reunion with all the staff getting together.

IT IS A BLAST!

Wow!!! I forgot all about this :eek:ops: It sure would have been great to have had this in my plans
I bet you enjoy every minute WildCat
My vacation time (when Treva and I can) We drive up to Indiana and visit Tony and do Monster Mopar Weekend, and a Pettit Jean Mt 7 day camping trip for there car show and swap meet 8) I am sure you remember all the threads I have posted about my trips there :D
Let me be the first to say have a great time and remember your camera

I want to stay home and work on the Dart, but my wife wants to go to the keys. So no rest for me.

When I go on vacation, I really enjoy my time at the cottage fishing on the lake.

Head to the Allegheny National Forest, pitch a tent, build a fire, ride the ATV trails, drink lots of beer with a bunch of friends and enjoy the peacefulness of being close to nature.

MY 72, That sounds a lot like my vacations as a kid minus the beer. We would go to Allegheny during the summer for a week and just chill and hike in the forest and spend some time with family up there.

I grew up in Harborcreek.

Now my vacations usually involve a flight to get my wife to as close to water as we can. This year it's San Francisco and Chicago.

Open roads, across prairies and great plains, and end up someplace where there is mountains..... Relaxing, breathe, and no I'm not John Denver.. lol

I use my time to go to the Nats, to our favorite music festival in all the world, and we camp at the fair for fair week when the kids show horses! Every other year we also go to Florida or some other destination that we decide as a family!

We have what is called the "Change for Billy" program here.....Billy is a stuffed elephant who lives in an Easter basket and guards my change! When the basket is full and we can see Billy's toes, we use that money to help fund our trips to wherever the kids want to go! This year there was $675 and it paid most of our gas to Disney!! Keeps the kids saving change to "feed" Billy, and builds excitement as the basket gets full the kids know that a fun trip is right around the corner!

Next year we're going on an antique roller coaster tour, to ride as many old coasters in small parks as we can! We saw a special on PBS about where a lot of old coasters are in little amusement parks, now the kids want to ride as many as we can find!! Should be fun!! Geof

Nice fish cap'n!!!

Thanks Geof! I think that everyone should have the opportunity to go fishing..... It is by far my favourite thing to do. The roller coaster trip sounds like fun! I'm sure Nella will love it! I hope you take some pics and post them here!!

Knew some friends of the family that lived in Haborcreek on rt5 somewhere around the old Lakeview Drive-In area.

Whereabouts in the forest did you go? I usually join a small group of friends and camp off of the "Rocky Gap" ATV trail.

I'm in phoenix on vacation now. Friday I went to check out Dart Bodies inc. First class staff and work. Anybody looking for a 70 dart? Anything to do with old cars is fun.

don't really use vacations for car stuff anymore. these days we usually go north to jamies parents place just outside lake placid ny. in the summer there's all kinds of stuff to do up there we go hiking,biking,kayaking...etc..etc head in to montreal.. when we go in the winter its all skiing. i'm not a big skier but rylee loves it. this year we will be bringing the dual sport motorcycles up with us. every turn you make up there is some other awesome scenery.
