What do you think about my 360

-
You'll need to lap the valves back in when you reassemble the heads. Nothin to it.

Is there anyway for me to use the liftters I have now.

i wouldnt ever reuse lifters , but thats me. they are cheap enough to replace. i would rather replace them now, then when its all together and you find out you have a bad one or one of them eats a cam lobe. i gather they are loose and you have no idea what order they came out in

Not unless you send them off and get them reground. Used lifters are worn in mated to each lobe they broke in on. If they are removed and not kept with the lobe they broke in on, you might as well throw them away. Having them ground will cost as much as new ones by the time you pay for grinding and shipping. BUT, you can run new lifters on an used cam. That's perfectly acceptable. Get some new lifters.

Lastly, and I am not trying to be an asshole....I am very serious here. If you're on such a strict budget that you're thinking of running used lifters, maybe you should wait on the entire project until you can afford to do it right. The last thing you need to do is assemble it half *** and have it come apart and ruin such a fine core. That would suck big sweaty nasty *** balls.

I wasent being cheap these ones just look new. What would be a good lifter to use.

Summit has summit brand lifters for 3 dollars each
The they have sealpower for 3.50 each.

How big of a hurry are you in to do all this?

Reason I ask is....why don't you load the thing up, bring it down here and let me look at everything with you. I'll even show you how to lap the valves in and let you do it yourself. That is, assuming the guides and seats are good. You don't have anybody who you can trust to look at all that do you? I'll tell you straight up if you can run something without machine work or not. You don't want tp put heads together with bad guides or seats. We can assemble it right next to Frankenteen.

^^^ This is a deal. You get to have a professional look it over, give honest advice, allow you to learn and do your own work with supervision, have it be sound and reliable. Do not pass this opportunity up. Take your time and lean, education is priceless. Trust me its worth the time to do it right the first time, even if you are reusing parts, if they are good, then they will work as good as new and you'll be a happy camper.

That would be great but I have to find a time when I am off work and my dad is off so I can use his truck.

Well get it together and let me know when. I'll be glad to help you. BUT.....if we run into some necessary machine work that NEEDS to be done, I don't wanna hear any whinin. lol

I really dont think it needs any machine work but thats just what I can see with my own eyes.

Took the heads to the machine shop just to check them out.He said they look really good he did not see anything wrong with them.

Did he disassemble them and check the guides and seats?

No he just checked the outside he said the outside of the heads and the valves looked good.I was thinking about getting a 3 angle valve job and getting them reperfused for 215 dollars.

Yeah. Do that then.

Few more ?s

One can I use the front and rear main seals on the 360 I bought the seals for a 318 but the 360 has a 318 timing cover.

Two can I use the starter off the /6 on the 360 it is smaller then the starter off the 318 I have.

Three can I use the distruter or the /6 on the 360.I have a points distubter for the 360 as of now and the one on my /6 is electric ingtion.
