what do you think of this intake

-
It's a good one. It comes close to rivaling the RPM air Gap, IMO, especially for almost 50 year old technology.

i thought of using it on my 360 but with the limited knowledge of the motor and the shortened push rods. The chance of it not sealing because of maybe the block being decked and or heads shaved i did not want to chance it and just used the intake that came with the motor

my car is down until I get a carb that i cant really afford right now so maybe i will sell this. what do you guys think is a fair price ??

thanks for the offer but this did not start as a for sale ad and its for sure the wrong place for it. So i will make a for sale ad if i decide to sell it but i prob will because i really need a carb and i just found online a brand new never been used in the box Holley 4150 local.

thanks don

Excellent intake..it ain't no AirGap though but probably the best intake out there until the AirGap came along...

Of course you will probably do it anyway, but here goes. If you really don't know the worth of that manifold, search it here and E-bay, other mopar and car sites to get an idea. It'a worth a hell of a lot more than $100.

I have a few in my stash, but it would take more than $100 to pry it out of my cold dead hands... Much more...

especially desirable because it was the "go to piece" back in the day.Almost mandatory for a day 2 build.
. It would be nice to see some real world comparison tests on small block intakes.( calling S Dulcich)
...Still it seems most think the LD340 is one of the better intakes, and they are getting harder to find.

Personally, I have spent my entire adult life taking that intake off and replacing it. It is no better than a good, stock CI intake. Period.

I know the kool aid slurpers and tea leaf readers all love them...but I think they are worthless.

I can't tell you how many I have ditched, but I'd bet more than 50.

Don't even get me started on the Torker and Torker II turds.

Again, my opinions and experience are worth exactly what you paid for it.

I have said before, Vizard (induction guru) took a stock GM 4bbl spreadbore intake, massaged the mouths of the runners in the plenum and it performed as well as ANY aftermarket 4bbl dual plane intake. Not my words, his. But that piece is still a great AL intake.

The best dual plane intakes of yesteryear are the Edelbrock LD-340 & the Weiand Action Plus. I have not personally owned a Weiand. Listening to those that have used them with success in there intended useage parameters gets a vote by myself.

I'll start with Locomotion a and his famous words, "In my application, it worked best."

I have a LD-340 for many years. I did the MP mods to it. If your not building an engine to meet the intakes potential, do not modify it or stay with the OEM 4bbl. Intake which is no slouch.
Modifying the LD-340 raises the bar for that intake. And the RPM range a good bit.

I guess when it comes to selling that intake, it doesn't matter what it actually performs like, because if it has some sort of "legendary status" then someone will buy it on that fact alone..

Do Not Sell That Intake ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Ever

Have it cleaned, 'glass beaded', and then bag it.

They are becoming harder and harder to find.

I'd use that Intake for the Street/Strip over damn near any Intake produced today.

It looks like it's been cut. Can anyone that has an uncut one post a clear picture of theirs from the bottom? I think there's normally more of a machined "flange" under the intake port areas. I'd carefully examine the mounting surfaces - if the engine it was on had really milled heads or deck - the intake had to be cut too.
The LD340's a great intake from back in the day. That being said, it's basically a stock '71 340 Thermoquad intake made out of aluminum. It makes good power, and is really good with the numbers and names ground off because it can pass as stock. IMO, there are more than a couple modern ones that potentially would make better power with the right matched components. Think of it as the MP.528 solid of intakes...lol.

It's not even the "cool" one with the mopar part number cast into it. :)

It is far from a "Basicly stock intake" for sure.
You need glasses.
There a squarebore intake as fast so that rules out the use of a TQ without a adapter or cutting the intakes carb mounting area.

Grinding the name and numbers off of most any dual plane will pass as stock to the unconcerned eye. Love the MP.528 ref. very funny, true to. At least IMO. I agree.

Man,those have gone up in price too..use to be able to buy them used for $150.00 all day..
