My title for my 68 Barracuda says the car weighs 2980 lbs.. This has to be B.S.,shouldn`t these cars weigh in the 3200- 3600 pound range, depending on engine, trans, rear, and accessories? I`m going to get it weighed in the next couple weeks to see if the title is even close. Has anybody got some realistic weights of their cars?

Curb weight (which is what is on your title) could also be known as dry weight (NO FLUIDS) and probably with the lightest engine/trans/rear/options.

mine is 3285 with me in it and a full tank of gas and a usefull toolbox
car has a 340 engine 904 gearbox 8 1/4" rear and a fiberglass hood

My '73 Duster is 3150 with me (250 pounds) and a full tank of gas.

Im hoping that mine will be about 3100 with me in it. Glass hood, bumpers and trunk lid. No radio or heater, stripped of all under coating. small block, 904, 8-3/4. It doesnt hurt that Im only 135lbs. :toothy7:

3125#s with a glass hood, 383, 727, 8 3/4, 1/2 tank of gas and me outside. I just sit in it to keep the left side down.:burnout:

My 71 Duster I used to own had a small block with aluminum intake and headers, PS, PB, a 727 trans, 8 3/4, and a center console. I removed the back seat and rear seatbelts, and put two of those plastic front racing seats in it. I had 15x3.5 centerlines in the front and some 7 inch wide steel cragars in the back and that got me to 3120# with maybe 1/2 tank of gas. That's without me in it though.

When my Duster had an Eddy-headed 440, it weighed 2,980 lbs. without me. With the blown 528" Hemi and a new beefier rollcage, it weighs 3,180 lbs. without me. Fiberglass parts include trunk lid, hood, and bumpers. Floor, and firewall are .040 thick aluminum. Tubs are aluminum too.

We just had my Duster weighed at OmniSource, a scrap metal yard. Their scale is very accurate, and the Duster weighed exactly 3,300 pounds (without me in it), it had a half tank of gas, and we took out the spare tire.

It's a 340 car, iron heads, aluminum intake, headers, body is all metal no fiberglass, 727 trans, and a full interior. But I did leave the baby seat in the back when I weighed it because it is a PITA to remove. That added only 5 pounds though. LOL.

3150 all steel except intake, full exhaust, rear seat removed, 360/727/8 3/4 - 10 gal fuel cell full. My 68 hardtop was 200 lbs heavier.

3300 W 300 lb. driver full interior, roll cage 904 8.75 rear, all steel body parts 3.5 exhaust thru the mufflers.

Mine is 2890# 67 fastback with a 273\904 auto\7.25 rearend and factory ac. It had less than a quarter tank of gas.

My car weighs 3060 with my 185 pounds in it. 1500 pounds on the front wheels and 1560 on the rear. It has all the factory steel and glass except the hood and bumpers. The engine is a 360 with W5 aluminum heads, aluminum radiator, 904 trans and 8 3/4 with the aluminum center section. It has light weight Wilwood discs front and rear and Pro Stars. The engine has been set back about 3/4 of an inch (it moved 75 pounds to the rear axle) has no trans cooler, back seat or anything under the dash. It has two light weight racing seats, an eight point cage and frame connectors. The carpet with jute is still present and two batteries with an eight gallon fuel cell reside in the trunk.

3450 w/ me in it. All steel except glass front bumper. Feather Duster hood. BB w/iron heads, Dana 60 w/ladder-leaf suspension, factory disc brakes.

My Dart, weighed back in 2001 was 3030 lbs not with me in it. It had about 1/3 tank of gas at the time. Drivetrain was stock slant 6/904 tranny. 7 1/4 rearend with the 9 inch drums all around and stock 14 inch steel wheels. At the time it also had AC and power steering. Since then roughly 80 lbs was removed by taking the AC and powersteering out and converting to manual steering. Dont have any clue what it weighs now, I swaped the slant 6 for a 318 which I honestly dont think added more then 50 lbs to the weight of the car.. if that. Also its been converted to 4 wheel disks from Master Power Brakes which Id guess added a solid 50-60 lbs. 8 3/4s was installed which mighta added 100 lbs.. I dont really know for sure. 15 inch weld wheels replaced the steels so I mighta saved 5-10 lbs there.
Later down the line some weight savings plans are getting an aluminium driveshaft, fiberglass hood, Corbeau bucket seats instead of the bench and removing the backseat. Next motor will have aluminium heads as well.
