What gear is everyone running

56MPH is 2600 RPM.

3,000 RPM is like some magic number. Like if you go down the road over 3,000RPM some bad voodoo magic will happen inside your engine. It won't...

While it may be loud, eat more fuel or is annoying, it's ok.

My BMW MC40 came stock with 4.10's and it ran 3300 or so down the interstate, for hours at a time. Your V8 engine can safely go to 6000-7000 RPm. 3,000 is only halfway there. My big block boat will never see under 3000rpm, most of the time it lives above 4,000. That boat has had the same stock engine since 1987.
