I've not been able to attend the May events in Columbus Ohio for a few years. I've searched and looks like the "Chrysler Classic event is no where to be found. Do they still have this event at National Trail Raceway in May? If they changed name of the event, could someone fill me in!

Lots of fighting and suing going on between Charlie Blankenship and Jeff Johnson has left the Classic in ruins, and I'm not sure who runs what anymore!! I know the events are reduced to three, with Norwalk in September being the marquis event. Whoever is hosting that event must've won the lawsuit cause thats the cookie they both wanted!!!

I wish it was like it used to be. I still have my 2001 event shirt for Columbus and proudly wear it to work at least once a week.

Is the new event as good as the chrysler classic was? Just wondering if it would be worth showing up for or not.
I didn't know about the law suits and crap, sounds like a bad deal for everyone.
Thanks for all the info

There is another show in Aug. called the the Chrysler Power Classic, and it's going to be held at the Tri-State Dragway in Hamilton, OH. on Aug 24-25. There website is: www.jeffjohnsonmotorsports.com for more information. We may go and vend, but just depends on how things go this summer.

Hi Guys! I'm new to the forum and just discovered this post. I'm pleased to announce that I am returning as host of the Chrysler Event at National Trail Raceway. The event will be held May 16-18, 2014! I'm excited to bring this event back to its former glory and I hope you'll join me!
Info is on www.jeffjohnsonmotorsports.com.

I went to several of these every single year for as long as I can remember. The September 2013 event at Norwalk was cancelled. It left a void because I always looked forward to the smell of burning rubber and the noise and fury of the N/SS cars to carry me through Winter into Spring. :banghead:

OK, I see Jeff is back. See you in the spring!

And just to add:

There is the Tri-State S and SS Association who is putting on 7 or 8 NSS events in 2014

The Buckeye S and SS Association is also putting on a bunch of NSS events in 2014.

With the Mo Power events thrown in there should be enough Mopar drag racing events to appease just about everyone in the North East US and Ontario (Canada).

Just to be clear, there is no longer any "Mo Power events" drag races. They have elected to retire but are still doing a nice swap meet. Any fighting or lawsuits are now in the past. Let's move on and stay positive. Thanks!

maybe all the Mopar folks back East can take up a collection to send gas money back West to Mo, IA MN KS etc so we can come out East to some of these events!!??? LOL

What they said. I really miss the heartland park Mopar event in Topeka. That's the best show I have been to. I need to venture out a little further now. Heartland park and tulsa raceway park are the furthest I've traveled for a Mopar show.

Jeff, I'm glad you cleared that up. I didn't know the Mo Power drag racing series had ended.

On another note: the ONDRA (Ontario Nostalgia Drag Racing Association) holds a number of nostalgia drag racing events in Ontario including the Hemi Shootouts. Anyone intersted should check them out.
