Hello! 1965 Dart GT. when the keys are turned to start the ignition switch turns as well. We can't tighten the bezel any tighter, the hole in the dash and switch is notched at 6 o'clock, but there's nothing there to index them, is something missing? No ignition or starting or electrical problems here, Thanks in advance

The cluster has a slot that a tit on the switch fits into and keeps it from turning.

Missing a tit I guess. I have 3 switches all titless. Thanks for that link showing the notch. There are the 3 ears to keep flush, but they can't protrude into the notch, as far as I see.

Does the tumbler have the tit?
It's on the switch housing, if I remember right. It's been awhile since I've had one apart. Mine just doesn't tear up.

Yeah it's a slot in the switch, as if a thin washer with a tang goes in it, or a woodruff type key? nothing on the switches I have can go into that notch on the cluster.. I'll post a picture when I learn how to. don't have my Valiant anymore so I can't compare. Thanks Rusty

Your year switch should have three ribs running down the side of the switch, The rib at the 6 o'clock position should have a small nub on it that would lock into a slot in the dash frame. Later switch designs were the other way around.....a slot in the switch and a tang in the dash frame to lock the switch in place. A photo of your switch along with the part number might help I.D. your switch.
