Hi guys,
I am wondering what four barrel carb is best for economy and tuning? any suggestions? i currently have a holley four barrel that is way to big i think its a 600cfm...

Holley 390cfm work well om /6.
Will still have two go down on jet size and squirter size from stock.

that's what i've heard. do you know a good place to get one? maybe online? i don't know much about the 390 carbs...

When you add the turbo, it won't be too big anymore.....

i'll look into summitt racing's stock and prices. But do i really have to get smaller jets? it's kind of crappy that i need to order a brand new carburetor and then customize it as soon as i get it out of the box...?

Most Carbs need to be dialed in for the specific application in order to run their best. There are too many variables to have a one size fits all solution.

Carburetors require tuning. The 390 is a touch large for a stock slant. I think I have a good buildable core if you want to try to save some dough. The 390s are not cheap.

Yes but it is an universal carb...I put one on my ford 300 six with offy manifold and changed to smaller jets and squirter...
318 two barrels work good on the /6...

I run an Eddy 500.
Very straight forward, and easy to tune.

If you know Holleys, the 390 is a good way to go.

The 390 has been real good to me on my all stock 170/6, I drive it daily in the traffic and on short trips for about 2 years now
It would be cool to try the Eddy 500 Like Johnny Dart has :glasses8:.

500 eddy is not too big? sounds like it'd be a little much. i think i am going to buy a holley 390 and tune it to specs. what's the advantage of the eddy 5oo cfm?

Alot of people run Eddy 500's on their slants. I just have more luck with the Eddys, and have more knowledge on them. They are easy to tune, and most of the time they work right out of the box.Dont let the 500 scare you.I doubt they flow anymore than a 390. I ran one on a stock motor, with just headers, and 2.25" exhaust. Ran great with the factory settings.Got this one in like new condition for $100.00.

Now I run it on a full tilt boogie motor. Jetted it up, and played with different springs. Runs awesome.

i have a clifford four barrel intake manifold and clifford headers with dual exhaust. i put on the 390 cmf holley carburetor today seems to be working well. i don't know exaclty how to hookup the transmission linkage though. feel kind of stupid but can you guys walk me through connecting it? thanks.

yea a 600 is to big for a stocker... the 390 or 500eddy is better for your app...

a 600 is perfect for a street/strip or race motor tho...

anyone ever try a 1850 Holley 600cfm? What about a 500 CFM 2bbl Holley #4412 on a 4 bbl manifold? would love to have a new Holley 390 but I have access to the other two easy.

also interested in directions of hooking up kickdown on a Holley

thanks guys for all your help. still playing around with the holley, but it's running much better now. need to fine tune it though.
