What is this tool thread?

Well I’m stumped. My brother found this with his metal detector. It’s heavy so, I think it’s kinda old. Some sort of pin. Any idea?

Can you give us more pictures and some context as to where he found it?
I'll see if I can get a couple more pictures. It was found on a KY private farm that locals say Union soldiers traveled and camped there. The square end is odd.
 
Okay, here's one I dug up in an old drawer. Obviously, it's a sander, but I've never understood what it attaches to or how it attaches. It's an old Craftsman, but I can't find a part number anywhere on it.

Any help is appreciated.

You can see where the drill chuck would slip, & has worn down the input shaft. Turns a drill into a poor man's right angle tool, not very fun to use.
 
Disregard, it's a right angle attachment and attaches to a hand drill.
Lol!! THAT's amazing!! Looks like somebody realized it was safer to use as a stationary wheel, had it clamped in a vise, certainly got some use tho'..
