I have a 340 motor date stamped 10/8/70, I assume that belonged in a 71 car. Its bored .60 over. Any work or clearancing need to be done to a 340 block to install a stroker kit? thanks in advance.

If you use H beam or stock rods you need to make a small notch on the bottom of the cylinder bore for rod clearance....

if you use a I beam rod like a Scat 4340 I beam....nothing is required.....

mock up will most likely yield need to notch bottom of bores . connecting rod variables will affect, mine took minimal at the bottom only w/ stock 340 rods

Bores have good sonic, lifter bores OK, cam tunnel straight?
It did 2,000 miles ago when my father had it rebuilt. Did not run strong, I believe he used too large a cam with an unrealistic powerband. Builder used a crane cam, I want to use a lunati grind. just contemplating a stroker kit if I am going to be digging into the motor anyways.
