I'm getting the blueprint engines 408" 375 hp 460 ft lbs motor to go in my 69 valiant. The rest of the combo is 727 3000 stall and dana 60 with 3.54 gears. I'm not sure what the weight of the car is, the reg. says 3600 lbs but i'm not sure. The car is originally a 273 with air conditioning. I removed the ac and i really don't think it's that heavy. Let's say the car ends up 3500 lbs and these motors may end up around 385 hp. My goal is to run in the 12's, what do you guys think with your experience?

With that 408 in a 69 Valiant, and providing you can get some traction off the line with that much torque, you should easily run high 12's at least. I'd be surprised if your car actually weighs 3600 lbs, probably closer to 3400 or less.

hi, according to mopar and NHRA, the shipping weight is 2907 with a V8.those are a light weight car.

i'll be a little dissappointed if i can't crack 12.99. I could get the higher powered 435 hp 408" that they offer but it would be much more expensive and too radical for a daily driver with power brakes.

wow. my 318 with about 300 maybe 325 crank horsepower runs mid 13s with 3600lb race weight. You should do mid-low 12s when setup right....You have a boat-load more torque than my hoopty, and much lighter..You'll do 12s if you can hook. I was running 16:1 a/f ratio when i ran a 13.6, tuned i can get 13.1-13.3 out of my 318....

Whats the cam? Slicks?

If you can't outrun this lil' fella with a stroked 360, you're doin somethin wrong! lol

The $ 64,000.00 question is " will she hook". I'm in the same boat, lots of hp but little traction. The better I got my engine to run the worse my e.t was. Spinnin isn't winnin.

i guess i'll stick with the 375 horse version because i'm building a daily driver and i'll have to be satisfied running low 13's. I've always seen the 12 sec range as the magic spot for a strong musclecar. Who knows, maybe i'll be satisfied. I'll be running power brakes and a 3.54 dana and the stronger 408
has a duration @ 50 of 239 in. and won't have enough vacuum.

my dart 360 put clost to 350 at the wheels and went 12.17 at 108 mph.. i was running more converter and gear though.. car weighed close to 3400 with me in it. you should put out quite a bit more tq out them me too.. i just ran a 26x9.5 hoosier qtp and it would lift the wheel with no problem.

"Vacuum ... vacuum ... we don't need no stinkin' vacuum."

I say get the 435 horse motor, go to manual brakes and consider upping the ante on your brakes (Force 10s perhaps). I am just way too easy with other people's money. ;-)

I would guess with that much tq you should be in the mid to high 12's.
