I'm thinking 360 ( or 318) blocks are plentiful and parts are cheaper

Dyed in the wool big block guy, whose never messed with a small block mopar....... but I voted for the 360.
More engines available, more relevant to more Mopar guys, lots of potential upside improvement and good numbers possible.

What? No 273?
Actually, I think that's a great idea- A "Mini-Motor" shootout between stock stroke 273s, 283s, 289s, 290s, etc. Put a 300 c.i. cap on displacement and turn 'em loose.
Something different from the usual stroker smallblock builds.

What's it going to be used for, as in strip only, mostly strip with a little street, hopes of the strip but barely even on the street, pulling truck/mud bogger, grandma's grocery getter, delivery van?

I voted 360, but I say let the 340 guys play along with 'em. Not because I'm a huge 340 fan (I am) but because it'll clearly demonstrate the advantage of the 360's longer stroke.

I love 340s, but I'm not delusional.

I'd throw my hat in that ring if I could, with a big ford inline six, with a frankenstein butchered LS head. Let the hate begin!

Don't know don't care as the scoring will be avg hp + avg tq / ci x 1000 within a predetermined rpm range. J.Rob

Has Engine Masters ever done a straight-six shootout? That would be interesting too. I'd LOVE to see a no holds barred maxed-out Hemi six on the dyno.
Didn't the Aussies have a decent (ie non integrated intake manifold) head for the Ford 300?

I vote 383, the small block of big blocks
That would be a challenge for most.
I think the 360 and 440 should be disqualified, as it's not really a challenge to build those.
Stroke should be left off the table.

5.9 magnum. I have a good core block you can have for free.
There's plenty of 318's. :D

I voted 360 because it’s the most common and the masses will get to learn something from the competition and maybe apply it to something they’re doing. And it will gain more interest.

I vote for 360, very common and affordable.
