I'm building a "47 Stude pickup with '68 Dart running gear It has a 318. I'm having trouble fitting the drivers side exhaust header. I grafted the "K" member, steering and front suspension from the Dart into the frame of the Stude truck. The Dart had no power steering and I wanted it so I installed the power steering box and pump. Now I'm trying to find the right header on the drivers side that will fit around the power steering box. I found what I thought would work at a great local Mopar only junk yard (Wild Cat in Sandy, OR) but it won't quite clear the larger steering box. It looks like it needs to be back about two inches farther to clear. Any ideas?

Yeah, I'm sure you're right, but which one? It has to fit around the power steering box. I think the standard steering one won't fit. I have a casting # 2780945 but it won't fit.

Dougs headers or TTi will work the best for you.

I'm trying to stay with factory cast iron headers for quietness and reliability....this isn't a muscle car. I just can't seem to find out if there's a certain one for power steering.

kool truck,, you may want to look at the 1992 3 4 5 dodge ram, dakota, jeep cherokee 5.2 and 5.9 magnums exhaust manifolds, they dump out facing towards the fire wall and down,,,and flow better then the early manifolds,,, you can find them usually in a set fo 50 to 75 bucks,,,

i dont have a pic of any but if u look around u may see a pic, there are several topics on this site talking about those manifolds for lots of reasons,,,

also for mopar powered street rod info,, there is a great bunch of mopar street rodders from all over the globe on moparts.com

join it and look at the street rodders section,,, i also have a mopar powered rod,,, good luck with ur search,,,

Thanks for all the good tips. I realize now that mine is too much of a custom application as I have no idea what year my power steering box is, so a stock manifold, even from the correct year, may not fit. I plan to go back to Wild Cat and do some more searching for one that works. If anyone has one, they will. (check 'en out at: http://www.wildcatmopars.com/) Last resort will be a built header. I'll post some pics when it's more together.
