What year was this 360 built /

I found 2 numbers....I am guessing aug '79 but that may be too easy.

The 2 numbers are:

8-79-79 and
4179930-860-8

Are you sure that is 8-19-79?

That would be when the block was cast, not actually built/assembled.

4179930-860-8 could actually be 360-8 ( I couldn't find a casting # list going up that high yet.)

My son actually wrote this down today. 8-19-79 sounds more likely is the casting numbers go month/day/year.

I shall check tomorrow morning.

i just went and looked...it really could be either but 8-19-79 seems logical..so is this the date I use when looking for parts ?

Check just above the passenger side oil pan rail for a pad with numbers?

sounds like a 1979 engine to me, to make things less compilcated ask for parts for a 1979 dodge D-150 with 360; everything from truck is the same except engine mounts, oil pan sump and manifolds

or ask for a 1979 dodge aspen with 360; everything is the same then...
