So here's the question! What's better, a stock 1973 ignition module or a aftermarket/performance one?

I prefer the reliability of an aftermarket setup (MSD here) ... most people I know with the factory orange box always carry a spare in trunk. :-D

I've been running the orange box on this A body and several B bodies before it for years with very few problems. For street mostly and little strip I'll stick with it. Keep a spare resistor and box always JIC.

Yes msd is an abbreviation for multiple spark discharge which means it sparks multiple times for a few degrees of the cycle instead of once like a factory unit.

My race car has an MSD setup, my street cars use the factory style but with an aftermarket module. I keep spares for both ignitions because neither one is 100% failproof. The advantage of the factory style is you can get replacements at your local auto parts store if you break down and need a new component NOW.
