What's on your "to do" list for this winter on your race car?

-
He told me 2 years ago he's was getting close. lol
Yeah I heard it too, he's a busy **** though.
He's Always helping someone out.
I know it's close though, I've seen it getting put together couple months ago.

After getting screwed out of a $2500 clutch from Black Magic, I have a new clutch from Youngblood and that's going in this winter and new belts and safety pieces. I have a grid system but doubt I'll be that ambitious to trade out the old 7AL2. New tires come closer to April too.

Not a race car per say, 73 Duster, but changing out my MP 380 hp crate motor for a 505hp/517 tq motor built by shelton racing engines in Georgia, 904 trans built to handle 600 hp with trans brake, 3k stall, new tti headers and new gear vendors ( of course a GV showed up on Marketplace for 1k less after the new one showed up)
Deciding on upgrading the 28 spline Ford 9in to 35 spline. Not doing the work myself as I'm just an average dude

I have done major winter thrashes the past 4 years on my stuff. This winter, I'm intentionally not planning any major work. Just small maintenance and "fix annoying little issues" activities. I need to clean and organize my shop a little too.

I am also contemplating sending off my dual 650's to a carb builder to have them gone through and re-calibrated to my current 505. They were originally built for my 440, and when I stroked the engine, I just kinda "winged it" with the jetting, bleeds and other adjustments for the hotter 505. I'm probably in the ballpark with them, but sending them to someone and giving them all my engine and cam specs might get me that last 20% of the way quicker. OR not - I know it's sometimes a crapshoot!

Car is currently living in the trailer needing nothing. Of course considering the “handful” of passes I put on that should be expected. Sent the Racepak in for inspection. Has been a pita and probably the bit of “technology” that has me shy about “upgrading” my ignition system to a programmable. I’ve also been mulling over getting another torque converter to play with. Was hoping to get some current data last month to aid in that purchase, but the aforementioned Racepak only blessed us with one clean recording at the last event. I’d sell the car but every time I make an ad I just can’t hit that “send” button yet. Looking at a February race at Famoso and of course MaTS in march at Vegas. There is a Mopar event in May at Famoso we’ll also try and hit. By then we’ll probably disband and hunker down for another long summer.

We just had a bracket race at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris Texas 2 weeks ago and had several racers from Arizona and New Mexico. There were racers there from a lot of northern states whose tracks have shut down for the year.

You can always keep the 7AL2 in the vehicle in case of a grid failure. That’s what I did with my 7AL2+ after I bought the grid.

Mine is more of a street car, but it's my race car too! It's getting a new converter from ATS in Burnaby BC Canada. It's also getting 28x10.5-15 Hoosier drag radials and QA1 Double Adjustable Shocks on all 4 corners. A motor swap got me from the 15.6s to the 13.3s last year, so this should help me improve my dismal 2.1 60' times and maybe crack into the 12s.

Cley

i was busy all summer and still lots to do but the list is getting shorter.

new items already done,

wilwood front disk brakes
QA1's on the rear
parachute
slicks

an unfortunate event prevented me from racing this year but i did get some things done. rebuilt the 414'' W8 engine. ran it on the run stand to make sure it's all good to put in car. took out the 355'' W2 engine and shoved it in the corner. next was to fit the 414'' in the car. a ton of work that was. dry sump, remote water pump, front mount dist....... i had to move the engine back 1''. so i had to build new front plate, mid plate, and get the driveshaft cut down. and of course build a new set of headers. i got a different rad and fan combo so i had to build the new mounts to make it removable. lots of fab work this year. it was fun but a lot of work.

still need to install wheelie bars, mount the parachute handle, and bleed the brakes. not much left to do.

slowly my car is starting to come together the way i want it. hoping to be in the low 9's

Lots to do this winter at the Bowman Performance shop and BPR Transmissions.

Tim and I got my engine 99% finished a few weeks ago. Waiting on machine shop to cut the intake so the ports will line up, then it will be 100% done. That will need dropped in my Demon before spring to start the season, which is a piece of cake in my car with no inner fenders and aftermarket front suspension.

Now we are waiting on machine shop for a couple different engines that need built this winter.

572” for Tims 64 Plymouth Fury
408 small block Tims sons 70 Duster
511 big block for a teammates 68 Cuda
499 big block for a teammates 70 Duster
Small block Ford for a teammates Mustang

Got some transmission work lined up.

Dad’s Roadrunner is getting new ladder bars, santhuff front shocks, re-wire the car, hook up air shifter, rebuild the front suspension (time permitting on front suspension).

Not sure if everything will get accomplished before spring but certainly have a lot of stuff to keep the team busy.

BADASS, that would be my dream.
I'll be blessed to have my friend Tim with me at the track .
Too bad Bill retired and sold his car.
