Ever squeezed a 60 series tire on a sbp 5 1\2 mopar rim?

Thanks for the help, Dino

A 235-60-14 @ 25.1" tall has a minimum recommended rim width of 6.5".

A 225-60-14 @ 24.7" tall has a minimum recommended rim width of 6".

All other 60s require an even wider wheel.

Really.... No useable (height wise) 60 series tire would be safe (in my opinion) on a 5.5 rim.

245 60's on 14x5.5 Rallye's - they came on the Dart Sport I had a few years back. Way, way too tall and wide for the rims - the tread bulged in the center - it was ugly in my opinion.

I had 245-60-14s on stock rallyes but as said its not the best fit. The side wall buldge which isnt the best for handling.

I now have a 225-70-14s on mt 5.5" Rallyes and wouldnt go any bigger. I actuall plan to switch to a 15X7 with a 225-70-14 in the future.

I have been running 235's on the back of my Dart with 14X5.5 rallyes. Been working good so far.

Dino, when you are referring to a 60 series tire, you should know just what each of the numbers mean on the tire to accurately identify the size. Lets say you have a 245/60/R/14 tire. The 245 is the width of the tire in millimeters, or 245 mm wide, the 60 is the percentage of the sidewall height in relation to the width, in this case 60% of 245mm. The R is of course radial, and the 14 is the rim size. So, the higher the number of the tread width, the higher the side wall dimension will be. Your real question should be how wide of a tire can safely be put on a 5.5" rim. My tire man says 225 or you're pushing your luck. Hope this helps, Geof

i want the fattest tallest tire for a 14 inch a body 72 scamp with a 5.5 stock steel rim, hows that?

No such thing, really...

You could go with a 225-70-14 on the rear.... It would be about 26.5" tall and as wide as you can put on the wheel.

Match that with a 205-70-14 @ 25.4" tall on the front. You could also try a 215-70-14 @ 25.9" tall on the front (Some start having tire to fender interference in the front when the tire gets around 26")

a 225-70-14 will pretty much fill the back of the car up. Theres not much room back there. Thats what Im running.

My dab runs 275-60-R15s on 15x5.5 Rallyes on the rear of his 68 Charger for last 20 years no problems at all. And 235-60-R15s on the front.

L60/14.Had them on a 66 valiant and then put them on my 68 dart.Look in my photo gallery and you can see the L60s on my 68 and 70 darts. Mark
