I was looking on NHRA's site for wheel stud info. I'm a bit confused, if I understand this. 13.99 and slower doesn't require longer studs, unless your running slicks? does that mean a DOT type as well? Can you run stock wheel studs and slicks or DOT type slicks if you run slower than 13.99, or do you have to use the longer studs because you are using a sticky tire with a slow et. May I'm reading into this to much. Running a stock 360 with 3.91 gears.

13.99 and slower don't even need a helmet at the local track, I can't imagine long wheel stud requirement.

It would probably be handy if you would quote what you read in the rules. You are probably referring to thread engagement in the nut, which I don't believe has a thing to do with how fast / quick you go?

Decided to just go ahead and put in the 3 inch long suds in the rear axles since I'm going to use the quick time type slick, which are not DOT legal, then I shouldn't have any tech issues. Just have to buy some conical type lug nuts for when I want to put the stock wheels back on.

The wheel stud rule is for any car. The nut must have at least the amount of thread engaged in the hex area of the stud as the diameter of the stud. For example, if you have a 1/2" diameter stud, there must be 1/2" stud length inside the hexed area of the wheel nut. The reason we say the hex area is because some mags have the shouldered wheel nuts. Some people seem to think that the "shank" area of that type of nut counts as engagement......it doesn't. Hope that makes it simple enough for the future. I always recommend buying a current rule book from NHRA if you're heading to the track.

Exactly what I was getting at. It would have helped if the OP would have quoted what he was referring to so we would have known what he was asking about.
