Hello everyone, im looking for a decent size tire on squeeze in the back of my Dart and im curious as to what you guys are running.

so, that being said is anyone running a 235/70/R15 for a rear with a 4.5 backspacing on a 15x8 rim ?

and, what size tires would you recommend for the front? would still like to keep it 15x8s if possible

Thanks in advance!

I was only able to use a 15x7 with 4 1/4 back space tire was a 245/60/15. can only fit a finger between the wheel lip, or the leaf spring. You need to measure it. others on this site have run larger, while some can't run as large as mine. Front is a 15x6 with a 215/60/15

Since every car is different, take my advice with a grain of salt. Everyone seems to want to start cutting fender lips, moving springs, etc... just to get the fattest possible tires on their cars. But some cars are too nice to start irreversibly modifying. On my '69 Dart, which should be same as your '67, the biggest tire/wheel I can get on the back is a 15x7 with 4.50" backspacing, 225/60-15 tire. Tires are centered exactly in the wheel wells, there is less than 1/2" between the outer fender lip and the tire and less than 1/2" between the leaf spring and the tire. I had 235/60-15 tires on the back and they would sometimes rub, chewing up the sidewalls. This car has S/S springs and sits a little higher than stock. On the front, you can run the same size/wheel/offset. I cannot see how you could go much bigger on the front either.

yeah, im not looking to cut anything on my car. id like to keep it as intact as possible and keep the most tread on the pavement

Don't remember rim width or backspacing right now, axle is 8-3/4, but out of what I cant remember. Had to trim inner lip and use a thin spacer to get tire off spring. minor rub in corners. Did this in early 90's. Currently doing a mini tub and small spring relocate. Fronts IIRC are 225/75/14.
