When ab 8 3/4 breaks................????????

-
I actually installed the complete 8 3/4 that came out of my Super Bee into the Dart Sport 360 4 speed that's in my build thread on here.
The gears were changed to new U.S. Gear 3:55s, new Timken bearings, and a crush sleeve eliminator kit all from Dr. Diff.
It works great now and isn't noisy at all.
I don't hammer on the car hard like i did years ago though...........

Yes you need to use a solid sleeve to replace the crush sleeve and shim it. Under hard acceleration the pinion gets pushed forward that's why the 742 case is stronger, the bearing is larger, and the carrier bearings are smaller so the cap thickness is thicker. In theory the crush sleeve should not have a effect on it unless you do burnouts in reverse, or hard downshifts.

What, you don't do burn outs in reverse or power down shift????

Bought my first T/A block W-2 engine from a guy who did his burnout in reverse.

Pissed him off so bad he quit racing and sold all his stuff. I bought a bunch of it.

I watched a guy at the track do a burnout in a 72 roadrunner with a 4 speed, backed up and never took it out of reverse. revved it to the moon and dropped the hammer and blow the reverse idler out the side of the trans.
