Where can you get new or used speedo gears without having to sell a kidney?

I need a 40 tooth gear for an a833.

The one I had was an orange 40 tooth, but my tranny ate mine which was strange to me since I've never had that happen before. So I'm wondering if there is a difference between the 4spd and auto gears. I always thought the long fits most of the late 60's and 70's trannies, but my brain has not been working very well lately so I may be wrong about that.

did you have the housing on the right slot for the tooth count?

but to answer your question i dont know...

Brewers performance sells new and used at reasonable prices

Passon has 'em too. Certain gears cost more than others.

Brewers wants $75 for one, and I haven't been able to view Passon's web site to see what they get for them.
