There were only 4 when I bought this manifold to tail pipe exhaust.. My first thought was they must be for the manifold to downpipe connection since there were only 4... I just used the 8 bolts and flat washers that came on the engine that came with the car. So, it's incorrect to use flat washers with the bolts..?Exhaust manifold stud washers. Should be more of them!
Ok.. I guess I'll be buying a correct bolt kit and removing the bolts and flat washers I just installed the manifolds with..Exhaust manifold washers. They go on the two outer studs and 2 inner bolts.

Actually, the location could vary depending on what manifolds you have, I just automatically thought of early 340 manifolds. They are held on by a combination of those washers with studs and nuts, or bolts, and some special "sleeved nuts".There were only 4 when I bought this manifold to tail pipe exhaust.. Yup- but it all depends on what manifolds the OP has. He never did say.My 67 273 has them on most of the bolts but none of the studs.
There are 7 total.
The manifolds were off the car once or twice So I can't say for sure where they should be, only that there are more than 4 (one on each stud)
FSM to the rescue...
67 sb
1 washer on each of the studs
1 washer on each of the outer most bolts (screws)
Center bolts (screws) no washer.
