Where to put the fuel filter

In my Valiant funning my fuel system this way. Going from Fuel cell to the fuel filter to the fuel pump. Today I was checking out a friends car and he is running fuel cell to the fuel pump then about 8 feet of line then a fuel filter. How is everyone else running theirs?

I run a big fram under my spare tire well then a short hose to the Mallory pump. Can't wait to run a stock tank with 3/8" line, and a mechanical pump again!

Same here. I put the filter before the pump.

Cell, pump, then 40 micron filter on my car.

An ideal setup would be a 100 micron filter before the pump and a 40 micron after the pump....just don't go any smaller (in filter size) before the pump or it will restrict flow. Electric pumps push fuel MUCH better than they suck fuel, that is why mine is setup the way it is. If you are only going to use 1 filter, I would put it after.
