i got a 77 360 engine out of a van i built in highschool for my duster.

its stock comp, stock bottom end with a cam and some head porting.

i also have a 99 5.9 magnum engine complete. my plans are to build a 408 stroker in the near future.

my question is, which engine would be better to build a stroker out of?

i plan to do all nessesary machine work and get aftermarket heads.
this will be a street/strip car.

ive heard both but nothing that helps with the decision.

thanks

If you want to go with a mid sized hyd roller cam, the magnum is cheaper with the ability to use stock lifters,spider..

If you like the stability of the LA valve train 'shaft mount rockers' , then go with the LA.

As for heads, the LA has better flowing stock heads to begin with.

so its kinda like this...if u plan on buying better heads and dont mind pedestal rockers...go Magnum....if you plan on buying better heads or not but like shaft mount rockers...go LA
Adding to that...if you also want to go with a solid roller cam...then just go LA

Basically if going solid roller, they both cost the same and no stock lifters will be reused like the hyd roller in the mag.

There are also more choices for LA intake manifolds.

It really depends on what u plan on building/parts u will use.
